GM previews subtle changes in store for the 2005 Pontiac GTO.

Quad exhaust, Oldsmobile 442-ish air intakes integrated into the front bumper, a new spoiler, a Ram Air hood is on the way.

The GTO has dual exhaust. Both pipes run right next to each other to save space.

Add tastefully sculpted Ram Air hood, keep the current spoiler, and lose the "GTO" embossed in the rear.

GM's ever famous quad exhaust is becoming more of a joke than the ricer fart can.

It's going to be farther forward on the new GTO's hood though, where the LS1's intake is.

I know what it is, I just don't think the traditional GTO style scoops would look right. It needs a more flat and spread out ram air style in my opinion.

WS6 hods are fugly. The Firebird/TransAm died because people didn't want to buy fugly cars. GM doesn't need to make the new GTO fugly just to satisfy a small minority of fanatics who aren't going to buy the car anyway. GM needs to move forward....not back.

That's your opinion, and it was not why the car didn't sell as well as the Mustang.

Fbodies were superior in performance in every way, so its not because of perofrmance factors that the car didn't sell. Nope, its not opinion as to why the car did't sell. People simply didn't want it - fugly or shoddy build quality. Take your pick.

Again, you're totally wrong. You could apply both descriptions to the Mustang, but that didn't affect it's sales.

    1. F-bodies were expensive to purchase new, especially compared to the equivalent Mustangs.

    2. They cost much more to insure than the Mustang.

Cost was the main factor killing sales, it was priced out of the hands of the group that wanted them. It also didn't help that they went a few years too many without a total redesign and little to no marketing.

It was not financially viable to redesign the slow selling car to meet crash, emissions and fuel economy standards, so GM decided to drop it and invest more in volume models which are trucks.

Here I thought Pontiac was finally getting away from their plastic cladding B.S.

I think the new GTO as it will be released is very nice and euro looking. Leave it to Pontiac to PHUCK things up! :rant2:
