So Nov 5-9 I flew to Napanee, Ontario to shoot and run retail print sales at the Canadian National Under-18 Women's Hockey Championship, just got home a few hours ago. It was a really fun time, super long ass days, but I was there with my best friend, who happens to be my ex-gf, who happens to be my editor. Everything was paid for, hotel, plane, meals, about 8 drink each every night . Awesome hotel, within 1 min walking distance of the arena, with waffles/bacon/fruit salad/bagels/ everything free for breakfast every day. The hockey was surprisingly good, very good. Ontario Red ended up beating Quebec in the final in double overtime, really good game, a bit of an upset too. This was my editor's first event, she did OK.. was a bit overwhelmed at first, but caught on over a few days. I took about 8000 pics over the week, so she was pretty busy. The only problem with retail tournaments is that you're basically just going for iso shots. Moms/Dads dont want to buy a shot of their son/daughter and another kid.. so it's lots of boring warm up shots and passes/skating/face-off.. after a few days though everything became saturated and I got to focus a bit more on game action. Anyway, here is a selection of 25 shots.. not necessarily the best, just looked through the raw thumbnails and picked the first 25 I liked. Let me know what ya think.
