oh didn't see this thread
Might not be as exciting in the terms of scoring moments, but there's an appreciation for their talents, coaching, strategy I have either way.
Not saying all low scoring games are good, shitty games are shitty games but a blanket statement based on score seems unfair.
My problem with most college basketball fans is that they try and rationalize those scores by saying "college players play better defense than nba players"
no. no they dont. its not even close.
its like thinking that your defense in football is good because you held florida to 6 points, nah bruh, thats bad offense playing a bigger role than your defense is
and thats what most of college basketball is riddled with, absolutely awful basketball players who just flat out cant score. see too much dribbling only for someone to jack up a contested shot with 2 seconds on the shot clock left. "omg look at that elite defense from a player who will never play 1 second of basketball after he graduates college" as college fans completely ignore, again, that college ball is just riddled with talentless garbage
They're amateurs for a reason? What exactly are you arguing for/against here?
Yeah, most players coming up through AAU and being the go-to on their HS team leads to them trying to outscore the other team.
A good amount of low scoring games are just 2 shitty teams with no real offense or defense to speak of, but there are good ones as well.
100-90 games usually mean no defense which (in terms of skill/strategy) isn't that much different from a 42-38 defensive battle. Two well playing, evenly matched teams.
dukes gonna win the title this year so none of this conversation matters
Duke looks pretty good now, it'll be interesting to see what they look like fully healthy.
their best players havent even suited up yet fam and they are still beating ranked teams and only lost to kansas at the buzzer
Im just making a general statement that college basketball is on average unwatchable compared to the nba
You constantly bitch about the nba too, though...
surprised by the defense
we couldn't stop dribble penetration against nebraska without using the zone but we didn't have to use it once against kentucky
not recently, no. i dont really have a problem with the nbas product. the playoffs are more exciting than the ncaa tournament. regular season is more exciting than college basketball
and college football is full of amateurs and seems to do fine putting out a better product that people enjoy watching.
i dont really buy the amateur argument. theres a problem with player development and coaching prior to college. thats just a theory
Not on board with the product argument, but I agree the development is lacking. AAU breeds offense, quite a few HS coaches just run AAU gameplans as well.
Bill Walton, man
He enjoys life to the fullest
kid is like a bigger, stronger luc mbah a moute
Wasn't the game I was expecting (injuries are killing AZ), but glad GU finally came out on top.
good win for the zags
Still undefeated crew
Bayless was actually the best freshman we ever had. Bibby is regarded as the the best since he stayed and got us a championship
Bayless 19.7P 4A 1S and then got drafted
Bibby 13.5P 5A 2S and then 17/5/2
Lauri is at 18P/8R right now but the next 4-5 games will be crucial. If he stays healthy I don't see how he doesn't go top 10 in the draft. Cant wait to see him and Trier together
UCLA/AZ/OREGON games are going to be intense this year
Thats about as good as we could have done considering we only had 7 scholarship players and no real point guard. Ristic got flat out embarrassed by Karnowski. Lauri played far better defense on him but we couldn't afford to get him in foul trouble.
PJC(PG) should be back by late January and Trier should be back in 2-3 weeks. We are gonna be a whole different team when P12 play starts
interested to see how competitive florida is vs duke.
Answer : not very
