    Previously:

So I'm 34 and the newest car I've ever owned was a 2000 Cherokee XJ I bought in 2003. I've had newer motorcycles, but never had the money for a *new* car. So now that I've gone back to college, have a promising career, etc, it's time to take the plunge and buy my first new car.

Earlier I had been interested in the 2015 WRX, but after a couple months of lusting, the ugly front end got me bummed and my interests shifted to a 2015 Mustang EcoBoost.

Now I'm back at the WRX. The Mustang is pretty cool but it's heavy and I think the Subaru provides more value for the money (same price and it's quicker, lighter, higher resale value, and AWD).

So I'm looking at the 2016 WRX. Base model, only option I'm interested in are the foglights.

Looking to put down around $15k and finance the rest.

Had thought about the STI wheels (black, 15-spoke), short shifter, etc. But then realized that if I let the dealer install all that shit, I'd miss out on the fun of buying/installing mods myself (for a shitload less money).

So..... 2016 WRX Base, Lapis Blue Pearl.
Eventually, I'd find a set of STi Limited wheels and swap them over, but for now it'd be a fun stock car.

    Thoughts, advice? :hsd:

    Love that color.

Although looking at the pictures, I feel like I need to get taller (and wider) rubber than stock.

The tires in the bottom picture are almost "stanced" level of tire width to wheel. IMHO, the tire ought to be visibly wider than the wheel (larger contact patch = better).

I had a 2006 STI and the car was a blast to drive.

I'm now looking at the 2016 WRX, but I want the limited trim (leather, moonroof, LED headlights, etc). The difference in creature comforts, to me, is well worth it over the base.

Definitely jump on it, and that blue is something i've grown to like, though don't know if I'd get it over the dark grey or the WR blue

Get a Mustang GT. If you're worried about resale, my fiancé sold her 2007 GT to Carmax back in Feb. for $7500, and it had significant hail damage. A pristine one would fare better. She bought a 2015 GT, and it's a blast.

A GT will be $6k+ over the WRX and it doesn't hold its value as well. And I don't really want to spend $35k on a car ($30k is pushing it). It's not that I can't afford the cost, it's that I don't see the added cost adding comparable value.

Awwww.... just found out that the "Pandora" stereo feature in the car requires you to stream the content through your phone (which is linked to the car's stereo). So you're using phone data plan to get the music. :sad2:

Co-worker just bought a 2016 WRX a couple weeks ago. The Premium comes with the same 18s that the previous gen WRX STI had

Bought it yesterday. Dealer still needs to do PDI (6 miles on odometer) and install the window tint. Picking it up on Monday.

It's kinda iffy... in the dark, it looks almost purple. But in the bright light, it's a nice deep blue. :dunno:

Did find there's a 1" hair under the tint on the driver's door.

Tint has a lifetime warranty, so I might go back, have them re-do the door and get the sunroof done. I'd feel like a dick going back and having them do the door for free.

I honestly love the 2016 stock wheels!

Here is a pic of my buddies 2016 next to my 2015 -- good color in person.
