I know it is a lot of work and takes forever and is likely wayyyy above my knowledge so far.

That being said, how can I slice off a portion like this guy did at the end to see if I can even make something to fit my big ass head?

Should be doable in your slicer, prusa slicer has a cut object tool

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. That would have solved probably 1/3 of the things I struggled with. I feel dumb.

Any ideas to avoid this top layer from bubbling? Really don't want to sand it down to refinish.

Friends saw the octopus so now I've had to print more, this one is TTYT3D Silk Shiny Fast Color Gradient Change Rainbow Filament with 3 walls and lightning infill (3% - but don't think that means anything) works fine. I might go to 4 walls next time, but with these settings came down to about 34 hours and about 335 grams of material.

Kinda the opposite of a 3d printer, but I'm debating buying a small CNC router like this https://amzn.to/3XN3FTl I've seen them able to mill aluminum if you go slow and have a shallow depth of cut. I've been trying to 3d print molds for a while and I just can't get them to work. It would be nice...

yeah... I can't say I've felt the need too often for a bigger build volume but multi color would be neat... I dunno
