I feel like I'm Tony fucking Stark now that I got octoprint up with my CR-10 too:rofl:

I realize it's basic self explanatory but jesus fuck, all the random issues I had until it finally worked makes it feel like a much larger achievement that it is.

Also found an old webcam that is compatible, so welcome me to 8 years ago or whatever :mamoru:

Octoprint is such a fuckin' huge QOL improvement, I should really set it up on my frusa

but I read somewhere it overrides the MCU hour recorder thing and I like that the number goes brrrrr

the 'basic' idea behind klipper is that you have a more powerful computer (Rpi) do all of the proceessing and sends the shitty computer (3d printer controller) just the commands it needs to send out to the various steppers and fans and stuff. Klipper has some really powerful software behind it that can do things like compensate for resonance and calibrate filament flow to get better corners

Finally got the enclosure uprights done. They're PLA so I'll see if they hold up. If not, I will at least be able to hold temp to hopefully print them in asa or abs later.

Kinda digging the green. Went with it because it was a color I rarely use and I figured these would eventually be in the trash.

ooh I like the accessories on the sides :hmm:

I want to mount a spool holder to mine for when I'm not using the AMS

Yeah, fuck the back spool holder. One of the first prints I did. Not a fan of the design, but it'll do until I sit down and make something better.

do you guys know if there is a place in Octoprint to adjust the printing speed or does it have to be done while slicing?

other random question. I slice a solid block and set it to do 0 infill, would that make all the walls the normal thickness and then be an empty space in the interior? Kinda like if a vase had a top on it and was made as one whole piece? I think that makes sense, but I suck at describing stuff:o

Question for you guys with the x1c. Does the rear control board fan stay on all the time, even when nothing is printing?

I was exploring ways to get a fan on my p1p and I just learned that it has the plug but Bambu are a buncha dicks and disabled the pwm via a firmware update. I can apparently get it to work by just plugging a fan into the +/- of the 4 pin but it will run all the time when the printer is on. Wish there was an easy way to trigger it so it only runs during prints.

And this shit is why I like open source hardware.

Not that I’m aware of

But maybe? I don’t even hear it or pay attention to it most of the time, but I know most people have said that leaving the machine on has “prolonged” the life of the fan, or has even fixed it or alleviated the noise if the machine is left on when the fan is starting to die. I leave mine on 24/7, so maybe that’s why I haven’t had fan issues yet :dunno:

What kind of shitty fans are they using? Even fans that use cheap ass sleeve bearing should last 3-4 years.

:hmm:

The printer does support MQTT. So if you really wanted to go off the deep end it would be possible to build an ESP w/ a relay that could turn the fan on.

I know some of these words.

I'm thinking now about adding a small relay board for the control board fan and hopefully hepa/carbon filter fans. I can have it trigger via the 5v signal coming off the light output which is switchable in the UI. The downside is I have to remember to turn it on/off. I'd also likely need a separate power supply as I don't trust tacking on a bunch of extra power draws to an output without knowing it's rating.

My BTT skr boards straight up didn't have enough pwm/switched fans to do something like that, I think the new octopus/octopus pro boards finally do.

I believe it does, mine lives in another room next to an air purifier I leave running so it's not as big a deal to me

It's odd to me that they incorporate a PWM 4 prong fan but everything I'm reading indicates that it just runs non-stop.

it's really odd to me because it seems like they stop using hold current on the motors (if you let it sit for an hour or two between prints it has to re-home), but that fan appears to still be on
