I don't know specifically what works for enders, but you want some variation of the bondtech dual extruder gear design

Ordered that. I'm 99.9% sure it'll work with mine. If not I can just send it back. My only concern is I'm not sure if it as a have to attach the CR touch that came with my printer, but I'm sure I can figure that out even if it doesn't have a mounting spot. Guess I'll find out in a couple days lol

I doubt it's your extruder but I could be wrong. I was having the same issue and it was because the z wasn't stepping high enough on layer 2 through like 4 or so which caused a build up of pressure and the extruder to skip on the filament. If it made it past layer 4 or so, it would go no problem.

It's something I have dealt with since day one of my owning my ender. I think something is fucked up with them where the z doesn't step up correctly during the beginning layers of the print.

One test you could do to eliminate that as an issue is once you start hearing the pop, raise your z offset by a ton and see if that stops the skipping. It'll obviously ruin your print, but worth a shot.

So I just tried to print and didn't run into an issue until I heard a clunk from the extruder. It was like it skipped or something. It didn't print a couple lines and then started back. I'm pretty sure it's something to do with that, but I'm still unsure. I'll try to get a video of it happening but it seems totally random.

So, start the print, listen for the noise, and then raise the z axis? I'm assuming you are talking about changing the offset since that is the only thing I can change mid print:o

Ohhhh wait, I think I found something. I not sure what it means but it could explain the noise and "skip" from the extruder. I paused immediately once I heard the noise and start to pull filament back out. a few inches of filament in the bowden tube are clearly swollen, like it was starting to push but not getting as much filament out as it thought. It was forcing the filament in and there was not enough flow or something causing the extruder to reach it's skip limit, which was the noise. One sec I can take a pic.

Are you sure the bowden tube is going in as far down as it can go? I have this same problem with the filament bulging many times and it was either a failed fan, or the bowden had got worn away enough at the end that a gap forms and slowly pushes molten pla up.

ok yeah no hot end fan makes a lot of sense, I was wondering how TF you have such a long meltzone
Right? I was bamboozled by that too. I knew it wasnt that long before lol. Also these have to be the tiniest fucking wires ever. This is gonna be ultra hard for me to do :o

soldering iron lel, this is what all my printers look like right now. Ive changed the heater cartridge, thermistor, part fan, and heatsink fan about 10x each on 15+ of these printers. Idgaf nomo

Fuck OSHA I do what I want.

Lol it just broke off the contact point, I'd just splice the fuck out of it if the wire was broken in the middle or something.

Got it sorted. Ordered replacements too because fuck that. I don't have tiny chinese hands to solder that shit back, or the patience, or the experience...lol I patched it for now and will 100% replace it once the newer, better fans arrive.

Next up....Figuring out octaprint with my Ender 3, I would assume that it will be almost exactly the same setup as my CR-10 when that comes.

Do I need to be able to login to my router to find out what ip address the pi gets? My isp has shit locked and I have tried all the standard login stuff. I can call them Monday and see what they can do for me, but if I can do it without that, that would be way easier.
