soldering iron lel, this is what all my printers look like right now. Ive changed the heater cartridge, thermistor, part fan, and heatsink fan about 10x each on 15+ of these printers. Idgaf nomo

Fuck OSHA I do what I want.

This is amazing

Soldering isn't hard man. Just grab some scrap and it should take like 2-5 joints to get the hang of it.

Or at least buy these

TICONN 150 PCS Solder Seal Wire Connectors, Heat Shrink Butt Connectors, Waterproof and Insulated Electrical Wire Terminals, Butt Splice (150PCS) https://a.co/d/8RLZj3H

this controller is really neat, it has a built in compute module socket, so this is a knockoff rpi + 8 stepper controller board :eek3:. Kind of a waste given I only need 5 steppers (extruder is on a can board w/ its own stepper), but they sell a 4 and 8 stepper version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still need to wire up the canbus stuff and should probably shorten a bunch of wires (but I wont :mamoru:)

Do I need to be able to login to my router to find out what ip address the pi gets? My isp has shit locked and I have tried all the standard login stuff. I can call them Monday and see what they can do for me, but if I can do it without that, that would be way easier.
if you plug a mouse/keyboard/ monitor in you could look it up that was I suppose

Are you all actually able to get ~80c chamber temps with acrylic/PC enclosures? I threw the P1P in my ender enclosure to print some ASA and I'm only seeing about 90f temps inside. I preheat the bed for about 30 min before starting but couldn't get higher. Makes me wonder if the acrylic would be even harder to get to temp.

I think my x1c stock tops out around 50c

Ugh. I jinxed myself and now the P1P is going haywire. I'm trying to print the tall enclosure corner pieces from ASA. I had one fail and spaghetti while Iwas gone. I assumed it just came loose from the build plate because there was a layer shift just before it totally went.

Started again and this time the printer started to make horrendous sounds when it got close to the same height. I kept it running and it kept getting worse, then layer shifted, then knocked the piece off the plate.

This is after pulling the piece and letting it run for a few seconds to catch a video.

The only thing I can think of is the steppers are getting too hot. Once I let it cool for a min, it went back to sounding totally normal again. So strange. Might try cracking the enclosure open but sucks to waste so much ASA.

Steppers are good for a lotttt of heat, the drivers might be getting toasty if they’re enclosed and not cooled? I would add more brim if anything

Had a ton of brim. I think 10mm. Did you watch the video with sound? The piece is gone and it sounds horrible.

Aren't the drivers enclosed always? They're on the back of the printer so even with the x1c with the panels, they would get just as hot as in the enclosure, right?

yes and the chinese fans tend to fail so it really sounds like it's dying

mine hasnt failed yet, but i stocked up on 5 extra fans and have a couple noctuas on deck in case it ever happens

I haven't dug into it, but I don't think the P1P had a fan for the drivers unless it's hidden somewhere.

Looking through the grate in the back. No fan in sight and I can't hear anything back there. I only hear the extruder/parts fans while printing.
