It is also the top 3 most potent motors for making a cheap street car along with the LS1 and 302. discuss.
I thought the 4g63 was just a motor, not a car. The motors rock but the trannies suck.
Did I say anything about the 4g63 being a car, I said it was one of the most potent motors for building a fast cheap street car.
No problems with my tranny either, 150,000 miles on a 500 horsepower all wheel drive.
best import turbo four-cylinder, perhaps.

Good motor, no 4g63 tho....
While the 13b is definetly artwork, it is no where near top import motor. Plus, every time I change spark plugs on the FD, I HATE removing the upper intake manifold. And it definetly loves to eat spark plugs.
Why if money was no object I would build a 2jz
Becuase even a fully built 2jz is not as relaible as a fully built 4g63. Look at the Nopi series for an example, both Titain's Supra and Lucus Oil's Supra are ALWAYS bending rods, when I went to Nopi World Finals, both Supras needed a new engine. John Shepherd and Brent Rau are still using the orignal motor from the beggining of the season. Built Supras are known to bend rods.

a 2jz will be FAR more reliable than a 4g63 and thats the truth, the 4g63 has been known to be on jack stands more than on its own wheels yes it might be fast while its not on jack stands but the reliability of the motor almost cancels that out.
And the reason those guys are bending rods is from all the horsepower, they are making over or around 1000whp i have yet to see a 4g63 dyno close to that and i have seen MANY built, stroked, bored 4g63 dyno runs which dont even come close to stock bore and stroke built 2jz's. Even shep doesnt make close to that amount of whp.

Notice I said BUILT. A built 4g63 is known to be more relaible then a built 2jz. A 2jz is also far more expensive to build, my freind just sent his Supra to SGP racing, and spent almost $40,000 dollars at SGP, of course its going to be a killer Supra, [email protected] will be no joke.
Both Shepard and Rau are over 1000whp, a 2600 pound all wheel drive car needs over 1000 horsepower to run 7.8's... think about the logic their... And also, if you are going for horsepower you do not bore or stroke the 4g63, it doesn't like it. That is why both Shepard and Rau run a stock block/crank.
Crankwalk is overrated, and incase you are wondering, the 2jz is known to crankwalk, as is the Miata motor. I belive the average came to 1 percent of 4g63's will crankwalk.
miata motor? i thought the 3SGTE was a yamaha?
