I've found out that you can get Airborne in your contract for 68W. Has anyone here completed Airborne training, and what's it like? If you complete Airborne training as a 68W, does that mean you will only be at Airborne bases (isn't there only two of them)? If you go to a base that doesn't have an Airborne unit then what was the point of the training?

I have been to Airborne school. I had fun but was also tired from beating my body up for 3 weeks. Lots of running and throwing your body on the ground. I highly encourage it.

I'm AF btw, so I can't answer you 68W question.

I think most recruiters have it in the contract as a recruiting tool, but not sure.

I went to Airborne school. Best three weeks of my 4 years of active duty. I still think about it every once in a while.

My guess is that being a 68W with Airborne is a fast track straight to the 82nd Airborne at Ft Bragg. There are a lot of airborne soldiers that aren't in an airborne unit (such as myself). Its hard to explain, but the system has a plan for you from day one.

Can anyone recommend Airborne training to me? Is it a good experience? Is it worth it?
