Anybody know what WTFBBQ 1 and 2 are?
ROFL @ APU fart stain
you bastages better get over the APU shart and tell me what the WTFBBQ's are
homegrown right here in teh barracks.
look like rocket pods to me
I don't think so. Especially with the smaller one on the left wing. Neither of them have fins, so they are probably not intended to be fired/dropped - unless they are some type of bomblet device. I'm guessing they might be part of the LANTIRN system, but that is one wild-ass guess and probably wrong.
but this hog is carrying maverick missiles, so according to the link you provided it shouldn't be an OA-10.
laser pod or guidance pod for the mave missles.
the mavs didn't need a guidance pod. And it might have changed since I last worked on them a few o) years ago, but they didn't use to have a laser designator. The Pave Penny pod is a laser receiver, and depended on another aircraft or ground unit to fire the designator.
Is BBQ1 an illumination flare?
I worked with the mavs daily for 2 yrs. those arent for them. And they arent rocket pods either. Other than that I have no clue.
Don't think LANTIRN has been deployed on A-10s. Pave Penny serves half the purpose anyway.
WTFBBQ1 looks like a 2.75" rocket pod, although it does seem a little small but that could just be the angle and the fact that you normally see them mounted on helo's so it would look bigger.
don't ask, don't tell
I dont know but we got quite a few people here who would know. I can ask around
well c'mon! I'm gettin' blueballs over here!
the only way the mavs need a targeting pod is if they are the AGM-65E (laser) mavs
oh and by the way Ranger-AO i saw 2 a-10s at work today and thought of you
knew youd be excited. there no tomcat but better lookin that the super hornet
