Ok, if I install a new deck, sub, and amp, but plan to keep the stock 4 speakers in the doors, do I need to add some type of bass-blocker or low pass filter on those stock speakers? I am only going to be amping the sub.

Actually you are "amping" everything, just using the onboard amplifier on your head unit for the speakers. And, no the bass block capacitors do not work, you need a second order network with an inductor in parallel with the driver to see the benifits of a passive highpass. Unfortunatly this method is not cost effective, and it would be easier to just buy another amp to power your speakers.

So in short, dont buy the capacitor's, they will not work as expected, and will probably infact increase the bass!

You should really invest in aftermarket drop in replacements if possible.
