Because I did!! TSgt Ski!!
Grats, even though I don't know what that is. Leaving in 2 months for the AF.
I am eligible, but still haven't tested.
They haven't sent me my WAPS material yet.
What?? That's messed up. Probably the result of eliminating the orderly rooms. Good luck to you though. Don't let them make you test early though.
Oh, I know I have 60 days from the time that I receive my WAPS. I also send a weekly email inquiring about their status.
congrats. i didn't make it by 23.xx points.
jyokker, don't they have to automatically promote you if they don't give you an opportunity to test? i'd leave them alone and get lost in the cracks till it was time to collect that free promotion
what's tsgt? e7?
E-6. E-6 crew holla.
oh... takes about 9-10 yrs on average to make E6 in the navy, unless you're shit hot.
Im eliglble for Master....just waiting for someone to die off or retire
(ive been a Tech since '01)
Yikes, that sucks.
welcome to the Guard and Reserve
Looks like you joined the wrong Guard.
Go Coast Guard.
8 Years in now. I'm a bit ahead of the power curve.
Yes, but I have to actively pursue my WAPS, or they won't give me TSgt.
wtf you're a mod? anyway, i take it you've looked into what "actively pursue" entails. i don't know anyone that's ever been handed a stripe like that, but i'd sure try, given the opportunity
I cant swim, so I dont think being a Coasty would work...
And yeah now Im in the AF Reserve now instead of the Guard because of Promotion issues
I joined the Air Force just a week apart from my grade-school-to-lifelong friend who retired about a year ago as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was working with NASA most of his last ten years and says he's a "satellite geek". One of his interesting change-of-pace jobs was recently as an attache at the American embassy in Armenia. He was with Harris Corp. after he retired, but quit because he said he was tired of travelling. I bet he's flown millions of miles.
He's with Give Kids the World foundation now (www.gktw.org)
After retiring at his base in Orlando, FL, he's settled down there. He also has a travel-assistance website:
