So the owner of the excavation company says he compacted the dirt/sand in the garage good enough he won’t need to bring any more fill. (Not in his bid) He said there would be no need for us to settle it out with water. Well…

thats more than just settling and poor compaction. that has to be draining somewhere.

8 foot walls all around. The base started as 18 inches of sand under 2 feet of binder rock covered in drainage fabric. Filler over that to the top of the blue styrofoam. Sump has yet to go off and the basement is dry. It’s draining straight down into the sand that goes another 20 feet underground. Clay is under the sand. We soil test every project


btw there are a lot of builders out there that don’t even settle out the original garage filler.

im willing to bet he didnt lay the fabric or there is a huge hole in it.
or he didnt use the right kind of Mirafi
