Goals: same as many here -- lose fat and gain lean muscle. Most concerned about losing fat (and a bit of weight). I'm 5'5 at 142. I had been out of consistent lifting/cardio for about 4 months now and want to meet my goals this time around. Now, I'm back in the game and about one month into my current approach. I'm eating between 1200-1700 calories per day (leaning more towards the 1200 mark). Fat is about 15%, carbs 40-60% and protein 20-40%. Regarding excercise: I lift 3x per week doing one excercise for each major muscle group each time (back/shoulders/bi's/tris/legs/chest). Between cardio and lifting, I'm burning between 200-400 calories per day. So far, I've lost five pounds. Does this seem like an OK plan? If I am eating 1200 per day and burning 400 in exercise, will this have an adverse effect? I've read that the body will go into "starvation mode" and counteract weight loss efforts at below 1k calories. Should I eat more?
