Great article. Makes me glad I squat 3x a week.
What's your current routine like?
I'm using the modified Starrs routine, via christophers.
Once summer rolls around I'm going to switch to the 20 rep squat routine and see how my body responds to that.
apparently i need to start hitting each muscle group twice per week. I can't imagine my workouts being longer though, they already sit at about 90 minutes when just doing one muscle group per day.
How the hell?! How many exercises do you do for each muscle group? What are your rest times between sets?
3 minute rests at the most, usually 2 minutes, 6-8 exercises, 5 sets of each at 8 reps, and I hit abs every day.
incline bench, bench, flys, decline flys, pullovers. I obviously do more on groups with more muscles.
I'm not trying to lift a car though, just be happy with my body.s
my routine revolves around squats, deads, and bench.
every other muscle group is hit, but these are the main three.
What kind of routine would they recommend over bodybuilding routines?
I read that over at bb.com and was going to post the exact same thing here but got lazy
powerlifting.. it says that right in there.
5x5 or 4x8-10
no i get that, i was just hoping there would be an exact routine posted or something
You can always follow Christophers modified routine
good reads, very motivational
he said in there either a upper/lower or push/pull split yields more strength gains
only thing is strength gains dont always equal size gains. dudes who bench 400 may have smaller chests than guys who do controlled working sets of 200... one reason why bb and powerlifting routines arent similar
youre just overtraining then and hurting the muscle more than you help it in the end.
i heard somewhere that the average body's glycogen stores run out in 45-60 minutes and then work after that wont yeild nearly the same results
I really want to train at a powerlifting gym.
24 hour fitness is so annoying with all the little gym socialite faggots.
how does one go about it? do you have to have connections or something? cause i dont know one that exists around my area.
PL gyms are pretty invite only. you gotta know people. they pay their fees so they can get new equipment, not so someone can get rich.
