I want to learn.
I bow hunt. I shoot a PSE.
Its a nice change from gun hunting but takes hunting to a higher level.
Bowhunter here i have a matthews outback, much more fun than gun hunting
Hoyt make nice starter bows
I plan on starting next year, all my friends use Matthews. The one who actually traded his in and bought a Hoyt wants it back, but no one will take it.
i've got a PSE. i haven't hunted with it and don't plan to for at least another season. if you want to learn, go get a bow and start practicing your shooting. when you're ready go hunting. make sure you read up on shot placement, cause as with all hunting, that is the key.
yeah... im gonna try to get a bow this winter and practice up before next year.
so matthews is a good bow to start out with?
what about arrows and tips?
Matthews are expensive, I'd buy used If you want a compound bow I'd look on ebay, there are some good deals on there. A larger riser height is good for beginners because they are more forgiving (so my friends told me, I'm waiting till next year to get a bow) so something like a Mathews SQ2 would be good. They were discontinued this year, complete bows are going for around $450ish on ebay
before you buy a bow online, make sure you know what your draw length is then get one that will accomodate you. no sense buying a bow with an incorrect draw length. most nowadays are adjustable so it shouldn't be a problem. just make sure your dl isn't shorter than the min or longer than the max and you'll be fine.
Bow Hunter here. I'm shooting a Fred Bear TRX model. Great bow and got a nice 6pt. with it last year, the first year that I had the bow. Just got a half dozen of the new Easton Axis carbon fibre arrows and love them so far.
I'm kindof bored with it. Thinking of going with a recurve if I feel like bowhunting again.
LAst time I went out I had three hunts in Llano, TX. first hunt was in a ground blind. Shot three hogs with two arrows. and killed a doe on each of the next hunts. Sort of burnt out after that
Ever think of trying safari hunting in africa with a bow? I met a guy that has done and he said it was the hunt of a lifetime. Pretty costly though.
my uncle up in Idaho bow hunts. he loves it.
Yeah, I think hunting something taht could possibly hunt me would be a little more exciting. MAybe when I'm older, have a little more money, and a little more of a deathwish
stuff so far
my mom's bf is a duck and dove hunter, amazing shot this guy. anyway, he's got a friend that lives about an hour away from me that said i can come up there and shoot around with a couple extra bows he's got if im interested. he just wants me to take a hunter's safety course first
i wanna go hunting, i've got a really nice Hoyt
what ive been lookin' at so far are PSE's... i like 'em... but like i said im gonna go up to this dude's house and actually shoot. ill definitely know what to look for after i shoot one.
Some of my friends i shot 3d with had pse's and every one of them had the limbs crack. doesn't mean it will happen again, just something to think about.
