most regions didn't have valuable wild grains. wheat and a bunch of our other major crops only grew in the middle east until we spread them around.

Mozambican grass seed consumption during the Middle Stone Age.

The role of starchy plants in early hominin diets and when the culinary processing of starches began have been difficult to track archaeologically. Seed collecting is conventionally perceived to have been an irrelevant activity among the Pleistocene foragers of southern Africa, on the grounds of both technological difficulty in the processing of grains and the belief that roots, fruits, and nuts, not cereals, were the basis for subsistence for the past 100,000 years and further back in time. A large assemblage of starch granules has been retrieved from the surfaces of Middle Stone Age stone tools from Mozambique, showing that early Homo sapiens relied on grass seeds starting at least 105,000 years ago, including those of sorghum grasses.
if some people did eat grass seeds 100K years ago in Africa, they probably did it because drought-driven drops in stocks of wild game drove them to eat seeds having far less nutritional value than the game meat that they preferred but had trouble getting.
people will believe anything, and once they have established a viewpoint they will continue to believe it despite any evidence to the contrary. This is true for religion, politics, people who eat weird shit, wear q-ray bracelets and do colon cleanses.
Does the Paleo diet allow for sweet potatoes?
One of my coworkers did the paleo diet. He had severe alergies and asthma and tried it. It seemed pretty tough to follow but his asthma/alergies are better and he lost ~40 lbs
BDR stated that he also had his allergies and asthma cleared up by a run on the paleo diet. I considered it, but from looking at what's allowed it would be stupid hard to stick to.
