I've shot some of the x39 training ammo before but I think the stuff I had was E. German, ok for up close plinking accuracy really started to suffer at around 50 meters, didnt always cycle the rifle either.
Why would you buy that crap?
1. to shoot at a paper target 50 yards away
2. to anger aggressive woodpeckers
3. because blue ammunition matches a shirt I own
The cycling is what bothers me. From what I read the commies may have made this stuff for grenade launching.
Back when I bought it I think I paid like $34.99 for 500 rounds. Figured it might be good for plinking at the indoor range instead of paying full price for SP's.
I shoot rapid fire with the SKS at around 25 yards. Would it be decent for that?
I found some x39 tear gas ammo for $5/round too earlier today. Might have to put a few away for the coming invasion
Its finnish mine was german if its loaded similar you'll probably get a few rounds off then get one that doesnt eject. Considering today prices on x39 probably worth it if you dont mind doing some FTE clearing drills while shooting.
Yeah fuck that.
I'd rather just run blanks.
How tight are your groups when you shoot blanks?
I heard that stuff was shit. Won't feed correctly and pretty much burns up before it leaves the barrel. It's like Balsa Wood.
The kraut stuff fed ok, and seemed to stay in one piece but it was prone to keyholing.
The same as woodtips; all over the place and no substitute for real ammo except for training.
i go news for you... that shit wont make it 50 yards, much less 50 feet. its a shame that berdan primers arent more widely available... because those are lapua cases(aka big dolla cases) and would make awsome rounds. i bet they are reloadable. i dont see why a brass round wouldnt be.
I think it is reloadable...It's just that nobody has a supply of Berdan primers. A bunch were suppose to come in last year but I never heard any more about it.
im pretty sure it is. if i could find some berdan primers... mother fuck... id buy so much of that stuff. id probably try to buy 15-20k primers, and just as much ammo.
i've shot the "training" ammo sold for x54r before... massive fireballs
I always assumed that stuff was intended to as a substitute for blanks with the addede benefit not having to fuck around with a blank adaptor.
That's my thinking. Unless it's a really dense wood, it seems like it would splinter, deform, burn up, etc badly while in the barrel during powder ignition/expansion.
anyone got a source for berdan primers?
It's exactly for replacing blanks. It's the only use it has. And the shit doesnt last long coming out of the barrel. I had some .303 and 8mm woodtip. That shit just threw spliters. Of course this was all going through machine guns.
how does the tear gas ammo work? i cant imagine there is a lot of it unless its similar to the grenade launcher thing on the yugos... i mean how much can you fit in a 7.62?
At $5 a round I am not experimenting
