All mine are 60 - 65% other than a Keychron K4 96% & K2 75%. So I'm not real sure for a full size. I know the GMMK KB's are getting good reviews, but I don't know if those are AL or not.

i just like the heavy back plate so it doesnt flex.

Just started.

Beige NK65 EE
Gateron Black Ink V2 L&F
HK Gaming Keycaps

Need to look into modding or replacing stabs before I assemble.

I'm talking to a local wood maker in our discord.

We're playing with the idea of designing a wood board based on the REKT pcb. Some really cool brainstorming is happenning now.

If I were making a wood case I'd probably go with a top layer of the wanted wood and a bottom layer of MDF, both for weight and sound issues.

Or I'd go with stabilized wood that had been milled out. That could be sexy as fuck.

When I saw the url I thought it was going to be some artisanal shit like I see on reddit, with shit inside the keycaps or something, not people bitching because their color scheme or font choice got copied  Fuck outta here hundreds of hours to put fucking dots on the caps instead of letters like some kinda douche whistle

GMK fucked themselves, they still make the best non-artisanal keycaps, but their turnaround time from group buy to products hitting customers doorsteps is fucking abysmal.

My GMK Copper's were supposed to take less than 4 months to arrive and instead they took 16 fucking months and I'd already bought three other keycap sets and two other keyboards by then, so that when they did arrive they no longer fit my aesthetic.

You can't be that expensive and take that fucking long to get people a bunch of plastic. Double-shot plastic isn't the easiest thing to make especially since each key needs its own plastic tooling, but at this point they should have a ton of tools and just be tuning the injection molding to get the colors right. The fact that it takes them like 2 years to get keycaps to people is insane and I'm glad there are clones to apply pressure.

I personally haven't bought a clone, but I want a set of GMK Botanical and my options are:

1) Pay $400 or whatever for fucking keycaps in the second hand market
2) Wait until the end of time for another production run + another 2 years on top of that for $200+
3) Go to AliExpress and order a set of GMK Botanical doubleshot clones for like $40

I think the option is pretty clear for most people.

The same thing happened ages ago with the E-cig market of all things.

You had all of these euro and american companies asking for $300+ for their shit that would take you months to get, or you could go on aliexpress and get a knockoff with 100% of the functionality and 90% of the quality for 30% of the cost. The market decided and the euro/american companies realized they needed to change their pricing structure.

Any suggestions?

i like mechanical keyboards but the lack of full size custom ones has always kept me from building

i could get away with a 10kl but anything smaller than that is just unusable to me. also im so married to the damn rotary encoder & media keys on the corsair that unless a custom clones that ill prob never move on from it

there's several keyboards with rotaries on them but they are stupid pricey, all of them TKL, and you'd better be decent at soldering.

the issue with those is the encoder is the wrong orientation as its a left/right knob and not a north south rolling one

see gmmk pro vs k65/70 for what i mean

TBH if the gmmk pro was an actual 10kl and not a 75% i would prob already own one to see if i could live with it

Has DEL, PG UP, PG DN, and END keys + rotary encoder for volume control that you can press down to mute. You can map FN+F keys for media controls. Done and done.

I've had mine for a couple weeks now and I love it. All I needed to do was lube the switches, toss on keycaps, and it feels/sounds/looks great.

its too small its a 75% vs a 10 KL and yes that difference annoys the fuck out of me i just cant stand the layout with the arrow keys and page cluster in the wrong spot
