i wanna check it out
the closet is thataway
I'm pretty sure we hate on crossfit around here
Check Hamster's log.
If I had one near by, I'd give it a try to learn the oly lifts than trying to learn from the internet. I say it's good for beginners for this reason.
but i think the wrong people hate on it
my boss is big into crossfit and is always trying to get me to attend their open house...most of what he says sounds pretty legit, at least they emphasize free weight compound lifts and no machine/high rep/circuit bullshit
I went to my local crossfit to try it out. After the work out I layed on the ground for a good 25-30 before i got up and left. While i was laid out The instructor gave me glucose tabs to eat then gave me a bottle of apple jucie to drink threw up 4 times. Then drank a bottle of water. Never went back. Joined a new gym about 3 weeks ago which has alot of conditioning classes for boxing, muay thai, etc. They are very high pace like cross fit but focus more on cardio and include punching, kicking, kneeing the heavy bag.
I've tried CrossFit.. What did you want to know?
It's a workout for sure... Just don't expect to be a bodybuilder or anything...
actually watch most crossfit vids, theyre not exactly a good example of properly performed anything really as far as weight training exercises go including olympic.
if you want to learn how to olympic lift then you go to an olympic gym with an olympic coach, not crossfit.
did it increase athletic performance and all that shit?
We hate crossfit for a reason.
crossfit is jsut fine for the average joe looking to get in shape but like someone else said don't expect to get huge...
And that reason is?
I can't tell cause at the same time I was still following Pur's workout routine, Muay Thai, BJJ, and was still running 4 days a week...(And I only did CrossFit at random times.. maybe once or twice a week)
But I can tell you that even before CrossFit I was still doing all of that... and the first time I went to CrossFit I was still worn out(Got me so worn out I was puking at most of the sessions). I think it does increase athletic performance.. but I can't back it up with any scientific bullshit... so don't listen to me. Try it out though.. its worth it.
it looks brutal. it may not make you the strongest but you'll eventually develop godly endurance and a good amount of strength imo
we hate on crossfit, amirite?
i tried it. Too much training to failure for me. I don't weigh 140 pounds like most crossfitters, so doing 120 pull-ups in one workout was rifuckingdiculous.
same with 120 dips, or 30 squat cleans. At those high of reps form fell to shit and I didn't feel it did me any good besides exhausting me and set me up for an injury.
Wait, do we hate on crossfit here guise?
