What is a good sling to get for my AR. I am looking for ideas and websites so I can check some out.
have you seen the diy one on arf?
no link please
I have an leather military surplus sling that I use in competitions, it works for me.
All I see are the tactical ones. I just want a normal sling.
I'm a recent convert to Blue Force Gear's Vickers sling. It's a very simple 2-point sling that is quickly adjustable and supportive like a 3-point but still about as KISS as you can get.
If you're looking for a $15 dollar range sling, check out the IDF slings, I've found them to be comfortable and handy.
Links to any good normal slings?
I dont understand whats with all the web material on that diy sling
It's a homemade 3-point sling, designed to keep the weapon hanging muzzle down over your chest and stomach when you let go of it.
So ACE should even have the web material?
Ive got a small one in town, but I doubt theyd have it
None of the hardware stores around here sell 1.5" webbing
i picked up the single/two point from rockymountaintactical for around 30 bucks.
I just have a $5 nylon GI sling.
This link was posted on arfcom
Only $13.04 shipped for all black setup.
8 ft blk 1.5"
3 ft blk 1"
3 1.5" slides
2 1" slides
2 1.5" double adjust side release buckles
Crap. Didnt notice they offer a kit for a little cheaper
ACE was the only place I could find the stuff. I'll post pics later tonight.
I wonder if a guy could buy in bulk and sell these at a gun show...
I'm getting a Gear Sector one poind sling and receiver mount... these are sweet slings!
try fabric shops. they always have the webbing and buckles
It took no time at all to put it together. Not sure if maybe I messed something up or if I should have just used more material since I'm so tall, but the thing is kind of short. It's hard to transition the rifle to my shoulder with the stock fully extended.
Here it is in the rifle:
If anyone can see what that I'm doing something wrong feel free to let me know.
why dont you attach it to the sling hoops on the gun?
Because then it hangs upside down.
I prefer my single point over the others I've tried. It's the most comfy to me. Only time it sucked was when I tried to go backpacking/varminting with it. We had to hike and the rifle got in the way sometimes when i needed to support myself to trees and whatnot.
I like the look of the Gear Sectors.
