Ok, so some of you may remember my post from about a month or a month and a half ago about me starting my AR build. I'm using an Armalite lower, with a CAR stock. It is going to be a lightweight build, and I had initially intended on using an A1 upper, and figured that if I wanted optics later I could use one of the many carry handle mounts or a gooseneck. But after handling a rifle with a carry-handle mount at the gun show, I realized how atrocious the cheekweld is. So my question is this: if I used a gooseneck, wouldn't the rear sight obscure most of the optic in the first place? If so, this seems pretty useless. Would I just be better off going with a flattop with a flip-up rear BUIS?
