Any suggestions on bow brands, and about how much should I spend?

I've heard draw length is important to measure by someone professional.

I've been out of it for a few years now, but yes draw length is important, so is weight, although now you can change the cams to adjust the weight. I wouldn't recommend spending too much your first time out since you will probably go through several bows as you progress and arrows can add up in cost when you split them, lose them, etc. Hopefully someone still into archery can give you more specific information on brands and such.

I've always been a fan of the PSE (pissy) line of bows. I've had a few different over the years and have found that they always fit me better. YMMV though. As already mentioned, yes, draw length is extremely important if you ever want to get somewhat accurate with it. I'm by no means an expert though, so I'll stop here.
