how would he do in mma comps? ufc, k series, pride
i know its been asked but i had to ask again.
I bet he'd do really well, especially once he incorporated everything we've learned today.
Assuming he could find an organization with a weight class low enough (IIRC he was around 135 lbs) he would do well.
He was extremely disciplined in his training and always open to try new things
He'll kick everyone's ass. In any weight division also.
he did have good ground game...
it's just that the movies didn't really want grappling...didn't look good.
do more research on BL other than watching enter the dragon, etc.
he'd probably fuck up everyone up to the 155lb division.
Bruce vs. Gomi? haha, would Gomi fight him?
if he was around and training now i'd imagine he'd be a 120lb version of BJ Penn
He'd have to adapt his standup as well. He did train a ground-game, but from what I've read he didn't much respect it. Either way, if he trained for it, I'm sure his dedication would take him far.
how exactly would you know how good bruce was without having watched many or any of his real fights. What about jean claud van damme or jet li. Would you say they would do well in mma? They like bruce are martial artist/actors. Or even better... chuck norris?
My point is, to be the best at MMA, you have to dedicate your life to it. The top athletes live and sleep it. If Bruce or whoever else dropped acting and just spent all their time training... then sure they would do well.
bruce a was fighter first, actor second. you can't clump him in the same catagory as van damme or jet li. chuck norris is a certifiable bad ass.
bruce lee did live/sleep/eat/poop MMA
Um... no, I don't think he did from what I've read and what his fans have posted on this site. Also, I would give Chuck Norris a bigger chance when he was at his prime.
"To beat a martial artist that's been training for 15 years, all you need to do is box and wrestle for 1 year, and he's yours."
"To tell you the truth, I could beat anyone in the world."
put these two of his quotes together and figure it out
Bruce trained virtually any time he wasn't working or sleeping.
lol, im pretty sure he picked up acting first, then his dad enrolled him in classes after.
Whereas for a lot of fighters today, their work IS training.
"put these two of his quotes together and figure it out "
So... he'd do marginally well.
He was a chid actor, but just because he started acting first doesn't mean he didn't hold his training above all else in his life. He was seriously dedicated to kicking anyone's ass. Guy is a legend.
you are prob right, but his life is better defined in martial arts than it is by movies. he didn't dedicate his life to it till pretty late i think.
either way, there would be no way you could support a wife and kids on just being a fighter alone back in those days. of course he had to supplement his life with other forms of making money (even though the money came too late).
i'm not saying he could kick anyones ass, or kick ass in MMA compititions today, but people who think he's just an actor are dead wrong.
bruce lee would have killed in any of those mma leagues... he used to fight on roof tops in hong kong with no rules, sometimes against more than one person at a time they may have had weapons too... if only we got to see
Yet he never really did. Dedicated to in theory kicking anyone's ass. There's no denying that he's a legend mostly due to his fame as an actor.
i'm a huge bruce lee fan, but shit like this only discredits him. be real.
If he trained to be an MMA fighter no doubt he would do well.
