ok, I upgraded my old computer to an amd athalonxp 2200 with an msi mainboard and winXP pro. At the time I just decided to go with the onboard video, but now I want to install my old ATI all-in-wonder card that I used on the win98 system.

I downloaded the xp drivers for it, but when it boots it gets to the XP boot screen then the screen goes black and I never get a logon screen. If I switch to the onboard video the logon box is there.

It's been awhile since I worked with hardware. Would I have to disable the onboard video first?

    any help is appreciated!

Some boards automatically disable onboard video when you put a card in the AGPor PCI slot, and others don't.
Check in the BIOS for a place to manually disable the onboard video.
