My (4 day) review of Brad Mondo's XMONDO hair stuff:
Instructions for application are for
clean, dry hair. Pre-washed/clarified hair with XMONDO Recalibrate (shampoo only) on Saturday. Waited for it to dry, then applied the XMONDO Super Purple throughout. Consistency is thick, doesn't run through and massage in that well, so I recommend thoroughly sectioning hair beforehand.
Dyed my hair rose gold back in early October. Didn't work well, but roughed up my hair plenty so the XMONDO seems to have stuck mostly to those parts. Gray coverage is
okay but not incredible, which is fine considering it states not recommended for gray hair. All my hair, at minimum, is tinted purple and it shows. No parts look "missed".
It does stain skin, so be careful to wipe off excess. If you can't get it all, I got the rest with eye makeup remover on a cotton ball. I left on my head for 25 minutes.
Blow-dried and styled. Hair looked and felt better than it has in decades. Shiny gloss, soft, zero damage - even after hitting it hard with blow dryer and curling iron (which I haven't done often in years either). Smell is good, kind of fruity/floral. No chemical smell.
Maintained since then with just dry shampoo and styling. I was afraid to wash it. But color kept coming off under my fingernails if I scratched my scalp and that wasn't awesome. So I washed it last night. First rinse was a flood of purple in the water. It was a lot. Oh well.
Shampoo'd again with the Recalibrate shampoo and then treatment with Recalibrate conditioner (5 minutes on, rinse under lukewarm water).
And then the big part worth writing about:
Normally in the shower I lose
a lot of hair. It just comes out, sticks on me and I have to separate it off my hands. It's a standard shower routine so I've just accepted it. Figure it's perimenopause.
Now since it had been 4 days, with all the styling and dry shampoo, I figured I was in for it x4.
Guys. I lost 1 strand of hair. That was it.
Showed husband, I'm all excited. "Oh? Well, that's good?" Bald man cannot appreciate, even if bald man is one who cleans the drains.
Combed out after. No snags, no tugs, no stretch and break.
Didn't blow dry or style, just went to bed with damp hair.
This morning 3 seconds to comb out again and it is still shiny, bouncy and soft and actually looks like I did some kind of wave treatment. No hair all over my clothes.
Hair color is slightly more muted, but definitely still there.
WTF. Has it been this easy all the time and I just get crap products my whole life?
I will use his hair color again, but will need to evaluate what that process looks like. Even if I needed to bleach or something beforehand, I'm pretty confident that my hair is in very good shape to do so, at least better than before.
