So I was trying to go for a new deadlift max to celebrate breaking 170 when I feel this sharp pain in what appears to be the hip flexors. I feel it as soon as I start to try and get the new max weight up. Does this means I need to strengthen that area before trying to max again, or was this just some freak accident? (It feels perfectly fine now, and even fine when I did triples after using 30lb less.) Also, what do you do if anything to avoid a rhomboid strain?
