What camera do you have legend?

I'd guess (with no scientific evidence to back me up) that your camera buffer will be the limiting factor unless you have either fast FPS or enormous files.

I'd also guess that the camera is only able to write so fast.

This site is awesome.. look at the 5d2:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/camera_multi_page.asp?cid=6007-9784

Write speeds maxing at 32mb/s. And while the faster cards *are* faster to write, they aren't faster by a huge amount. And none are even close to the 60mb/s theoretical maximum of some of those cards.

If you look at some other cameras, the top speeds are very different. 1ds3:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/camera_multi_page.asp?cid=6007-9256

That same card that got 32.6Mb/s with the 5d2 only gets 19.8Mb/s with the 1ds3. Looks like your camera write speed is a limiting factor :dunno:

Thanks for the help Marix. I just picked these up because it's a decent deal and they are quality. I use a slower Lexar 16gb in the 5Dc because it doesn't matter and I'll mostly use these in the 7D which take advantage of the UDMA and such.

I think the main benefit can be the ability to clear out your buffer a bit faster. Granted it's probably not a big deal for most of us but when you start to multiple the added mB/sec x "X" number of shots it could buy you some seconds to get more shots off.

Well, 133x = 133x150 = 20mb/s theoretical max

So a 400x card = 60Mb/s theoretical

All the top camera models seem to max around the 30mb/s mark, including your d700.. so maybe you would gain some extra speed.

But if you describe the lexar you has as "near instant", I think you shouldn't worry about it ;)

According to that website, it won't.

All the top models seem to max around the 30mb/s mark.

Hmm? If he has a Lexar 133x card he is probably around 15mB/sec. The higher end SanDisk cards that are a bit slower than the SanDisk Extreme 60mB/sec cards come in at around 30mB/sec so that would be twice as fast.
