There's a guy that was in my unit until he signed up for active duty. His duty station is in Washington state, but his wife said she wasn't going to move and is staying in South Carolina with his son. They aren't going to divorce. He has been told that all E5's have to live off-post. How does the military work the housing allowance when a soldier is unaccompanied and there is no room in the barracks for him? Do they continue to pay him the allowance rate for where the spouse is living, and add on the allowance rate for where he is living as well? cliffs: soldier's wife is now serving customer # 287.
