BB Bench Press Volume Question

    I was wondering which of these set combo's is better; I assume it's good to mix it up and not max out every week but I feel like I cheated myself if I don't go for a new max every time. Whatcha think?

    135X10
    225X10
    275X10
    315X5
    335X1 drop set to 225X5

    or

    135X10
    225X10
    315X5
    345X1 drop set 225X10

    wouldn't it be better to focus on either hypertrophy, or strength for a given workout?

    idk, it seems like the method you are using would not be very conducive to hitting a new max, because youd be tired from all of those earlier sets.

    if you are only maxing at 335-345 I wouldnt be making plate jumps.

    135 x 10
    185 x 10
    225 x 8
    275 x 8
    315 x 3-5 reps x 3

    then increase the reps for your next chest movement. Incline for sets of 12 or something

    Hmmm good info. So it wouldn't be a waste to do a set of 185? I'm going to try this next chest day.

    when I was training with higher volume I made plate and quarter jumps all the way up to max. every set helped

    135, 185, 225, 275, 315, 365

    that took me to an easy 405 bench after a summer.
