having issues with .avi files in WMP...any other suggestions?
Get the klite codec pack 2.84 - full version here:
It comes with media player classic which will play just about every file type
you can find.
When you install it, go into the regular media player and deselect media player from
being the default for all the file types in there.
Then go into the newly installed media player classic, and select all the file types in there.
Also, during the install of the codec pack, select all the options in the
install menu. That way, mpc will play everything you throw at it.
I've been ripping the iso image of dvd's to my hard drive.
Mpc even plays those just like a regular movie.
In mpc under view > options > you'll see this:
Notice in the second screen that I didn't select Matroska.
I read that it can cause some conflicts.
Please, please, stop with the details -- information overload.
Are you sure the issue isn't that uncompressed .AVI files usually take up a ton of space, and your fragmented .AVI videos can't get transferred off the hard drive fast enough? I've had that happen before.
Well I see so many people having issues with avi files, and
they never fail to play with mpc.
