Did some PVP in Wolong. Not sure how they'll balance this. Attack first lose first. It was fun but I could tell it was overwhelming for the guy invading me, then the guys I invaded had no clue, which is understandable.

Getting deflected while having low spirit means you're vulnerable to a follow up light attack. So startup for PVP combat is light attack or deflect. Best sequence for initial reads is deflect and 2 attacks. At least until PVPers get good enough to do a follow up deflect on read after getting hit once. Also all magic can be deflected. Combat is won purely by reading your opponent and remembering that you don't have iframes when going for a crit. Basically unbalance your opponent, and push if you can tell they're panicking. It's fun but no one seems to know what they're doing yet. I also don't know how anyone will be able to fight with a large slow weapon. That's probably why high risk weapon switch deflect is part of the game (hold R1 while deflecting and you'll do a follow up attack with your other weapon after the deflect).

One other note if you decide to try out PVP. The big glowy red thing that happens in PVE when an enemy is going for a big attack... That happens for every spirit attack you do in PVP as well (even the red second flash that indicates the deflect timing for the attack). Spam heavy attack in PVP to die quickly.

If Sekiro is all about parry-timing, I'm not even giving that shit a chance lol. I've never been able to time parries in any game like that.

it has the easiest parry timing i've ever seen.

it's quite a bit easier than the souls games, it just requires the game to click, once it does it's simple. the biggest lesson is not even remotely play it like a souls game.

that will only hurt you in sekiro. you cannot play it like a souls game.
so my approach in ds3 and some of ER was to bait enemies out and 1v1 them bc mobs would wreck me and i’d end up panic rolling. so is that not the case here with sekiro or do you mean specifically like roll behind the enemy and backstab won’t work with sekiro

you really don't want to dodge much at all, there are a few situations where that's fine but you're going to want to deflect and be far, far more aggressive. most enemies i would run at them and spam attack until i saw the orange flash meaning the enemy deflected me and then spam deflect until they stopped attacking, and just repeat that operation.

ok noted but still kite single enemies and avoid mobs

OK...

Whomst has tried Sons of the Forest?

My old OW crew was pinging me like crazy last night to buy it, so I did and spent about ten minutes in it - I'm feeling like this might be pretty damned fun.

Brother, I feel like every day you post about a new game that you're about to buy. Don't you have enough games to play?

Every time I start a game of Dark Souls I feel like I must complete it before moving on to anything else, so that's what I've been doing (Switch version this time... I wonder how many times I have bought this game).

I'm at Sen's, which I still find to be pretty damn obnoxious. Although I have a working strategy for getting through this place that I use every time, there's one spot where you have to run up a bunch of stairs and make a hard right to get into that room where that big boulder that rolls down the stairs spawns from and you have to turn the crank. I still fuck up that timing to this day because the window to get up there without being pancaked by that god damned boulder is incredibly tiny and the trek back does become grating.

Every time I play this game I either get it on the first try, or it takes like 10 fucking tries, no in between.
