playing Darksiders 3 on steam deck reminded me why i never finished this game. god what a shitty fucking game. it's just sloppy, uninvolving, the story sucks, the main character sucks, the level design sucks, it's just fucking rancid trash. wouldn't even call it mediocre, it's just horrible.

uninstalled that trash and loaded up mark of the ninja remastered, refreshing to play an actually good game. ran into something interesting with this game on the deck though, i was getting these kinds of artifacts, like when loading a new room it would flash multicolored squares across the screen, game crashed early on level 2. quick google later and i swapped over to proton experimental which cleared it up completely. haven't ran into that before, i have ran into games that ran wildly superior with proton experimental though. protondb is such a fantastic tool for steamdeck owners.

for deck owners unfamiliar with protondb, here you go:

keep an eye open when using protondb though, it is not just for steamdeck, it's for all proton users where proton is steam's in house tool to allow gamers to play steam games on linux without learning linux, so protondb will have reports from linux desktop users as well as steam deck users.

@Highlander_77 @Mr.Fusion what else have you been playing on PSVR2 other than GT7? My only concern before pulling the trigger (which as I understand is an extremely common one) is lack of games for the platform.

Resident Evil Village has a great VR mode. I also messed around with No Man's Sky, Rez Infinite and the Kayak VR game (Mirage or something like that). The Horizon game looks really cool, but I only messed around with the trial. Probably wait for the price to drop on that one. There's lots of other stuff I've been seeing recommendations for. They released versions of both Moss Book 1&2, which I've heard good things about. Lots of others too, I'd maybe go looking up some "best PSVR2 games" videos and see what looks appealing to you.

To be honest though, don't go into VR with the expectation that you're gonna play it for hours or it's going to replace traditional gaming or whatever. For one thing, different people have different levels of tolerance to the potential motion sickness-inducing effects. I'm happy with the purchase and definitely impressed by the device itself, but I can't say it's something I would definitely recommend that everyone should go drop $550 on. If you know that you like VR though, I think there's going to be plenty of stuff to play.

I finished Super Mario Odyssey (just the main game, far from completing it with all those god damned moons). It was one where I had made it like 70% through and abandoned for no good reason, so yesterday I finished it. It's really good! 8.5/10.

I wonder if Nintendo is going to reveal a new flagship Mario platformer after Zelda. It's been a hot minute.

it's funny i was planning on preordering the last of us part 1 to play on PC as it launches but i don't think i will now, Resident Evil 4 is just a few days earlier, i think i'll just wait for an inevitable summer sale. that delay was such a bummer, worst timed delay ever.

Almost done with Tropical Freeze and I've been playing some Assassin's Creed: Black Flag on the side. Pretty solid AssCreed game and I freakin love the pirate theme and setting

Black flag was by far the most fun I've had with an asscreed game but it still suffered tremendously from bloat and horribly designed tailing missions that made me wanna slap the shit out of the designers

Bailed angry as fuck the third time or so I got spotted in one and perplexingly had to replay five minutes of horrendously tedious/banal conversations

black flag was fine, it's not in my top 5 AC games though. it sorely lacked big cities and the ship stuff had this really repetitive elements that drove me crazy by the end of the game. the legendary pirate ships were cool though.

I've been hiring people to blend in with and it makes a lot of trailing missions and assassinations ez
