Google started out as a commercial title for the now-popular search engine. Now when more and more people switched to google from whatever and shared their experience of net surfing in search of new unexplored territory, people wanted a short cut to the longer expression and, voila!, they came up with the verb "to google for something" or simply "to google sth." You can also look someone up on google like a long lost friend from way back (not so easy but sometimes successful); hence the expression "to google someone."

To illustrate, type in a narrow area of interest using 2-3 key words or more in the Google window below, and enter. You can look up texts, images or movie files if you know what kind of info you would like.
