TECH Bluray drive

I'm looking to buy a laptop and I'm not sure weather to look at a Bluray player with it. Does the the Bluray drive still write to DVD or does it read discs only.

It would depend on the capabilities of the drive, and they should be listed with the specifications of the laptop. What laptops are you looking at?

It will still write other formats too.

It depends on the specs of the drive. It stands to reason that they would include the ability to read and write DVDs, but since they use different colors of lasers, they might try to save money by leaving out the red laser that CDs and DVDs use.

Then again, maybe CDs and DVDs can be read and written with blue lasers too, I dunno. Read the specs on the manufacturer's website to be sure.
