I'm putting together a list of things for him to learn/memorize before he goes. Things like General Orders, Soldiers Creed, etc. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

My recruiter gave me a packet full of shit I need to learn before going in. It ranges from basic Land Nav, Rank, Army history, General Orders, Core Values, and even a step by step guide on the referral program and how to set up my AKO account.

Tell him to talk to his recruiter about the packet, when mine printed it up, it seemed like it was a standardized packet that all recruiters were to give enlistee's. :dunno:

Just be in shape. Noone likes a knowitall in bootcamp (im looking at you JROTC). Most likely whatever you teach them is useless since everyone is taught diffrent.

With the amount of idiots that pass boot, preparing for it (other than physically) like its the BAR exam, is a waste of time, better off just telling him what to expect.

    my suggestion:

enjoy your last time as a civilian, don't study ANYTHING. work out 3-5x times a week, but don't go crazy. You don't really need to prep for boot camp to do well

I'd have to agree. They will teach him all he needs to know soon enough :)

The more he knows, the more he's going to stand out... and in most cases standing out is a bad thing, atleast it was in my experience

When I spent my time at Sand Hill, the biggest things were Army Song, Soldiers Creed, Chain of Command (From CO/1SG up to Bush), Terrain Features, and Basic M16A2 knowledge such as max effective range, etc.
