Kent police were called to the scene at the corner of 260th Street and 108th Avenue around 6 o'clock and found a man dead in the back yard. A chaplain interviewed the homeowner and found that he had come home to find the man in his home. A fight ensued, with the homeowner eventually shooting and killing the burglar. Police won't say much else about what happened. They were still awaiting a search warrant to get into the home late Saturday evening. "That will help (investigators) support any statements we might get or lead them in another direction," said Lt. Bruce Weissich with the Kent Police Department. "And at this point there's no way to know which way this will go." Neighbors say this is the second burglary at the complex in the recent past. A burglar struck in October and neighbors never heard if that burglar was caught. They were surprised to hear this time, the burglar died at the hands of the homeowner. " I know some people would say give the guy an award," said neighbor Jeff Johnson. "(But) that's pretty scary." The name of the burglar has not been released. In the meantime, Kent police are still looking to interview witnesses who saw or heard what may have happened. If you have any information, call their station.
