nope. Usually DSL is faster. There are a few regional exceptions, but for the most part, cable blows.

yup - i must be in a regional exception. Fastest download DSL average is 1kb/s slower than cable. 4kb/s vs 5kb/s. Typically, I range between 5kb/s and 11kb/s on Comcast Cable.

    I've had DSL and cable.

    Sticking with cable.

He was correct that the ethernet would be best though.

cable and dsl both run at the same speed in my experience. that would be 1536up/384down service

however, cable cost more than double what dsl does in my area, for the same speed

if you're only getting 11KB/sec on cable then you really need to switch to dsl. Even shitty "768Kbps" DSL will net you 96KB/sec

    my 2 cents

it depends on what package you get with either service.

$15 a month DSL package wont compare to a business class cable line.

yea, shared with everyone else in your neighborhood. :mamoru:

I tried out some 10Mbps cable in my area and in the early morning I could eek out 4Mbps, and during the evening it was between 50Kbps and 1Mbps.

My neighbors must not care about downloading. This is normal speeds for me, and I actually go faster some of the times.
