Finally a refresh to the 100-400L! Sweet lens, 200-400 f4, 280-560mm f5.6 with the built in 1.4 TC.

I'm excited to see how well it performs. I'm hoping that the inclusion of the built in TC is because they found it was better optically doing it that way.

Canon has been building built in TC's to their broadcast video lenses for quite a while so hopefully they've got it down.

Sigma 120-300 2.8 w 1.4x may be a winner of people want a 200-400 f4 is for canon.

That's what I'm upgrading my current 120-300 2.8 to, as soon as the new model is released. I love my current 120-300 but it'd be nice to have the focus limiters as well as the stabilization? The 200-400 vr is too specific for my needs, I'd like the option of a 300 2.8 when I need it.

I think it's a great innovation, I just can't stand the price gouging both companies have started to do with new lenses just because they know people will buy them.

i dont think its pointless because people have switched due to the prices of some lenses. honestly if i was canon and i had to have this lens, id probably switch over to a d4 and a 200-400 VRii for the same price as the body itself.
