I'm ordering a 430EX and want to get an off shoe cable. Is the Canon one the best way to go? Looking at the reviews on Amazon, people say that it is pretty flimsy and not built very well.
I looked on BH and found this one, the Dot Line cable that supports ETTL. It looks like it's got a metal hotshoe on it.

Anyone have any experience/suggestions as to which to get?

I have the canon off shoe cord and it seems well built to me :dunno:

The real problem with it is that you have to diy mod it to use a longer cord with it. It really doesn't have much reach to it at all and I like to use it at arms length sometimes.

promaster has a decent version, bot both are too short. st-e2 allows wireless off camera shooting, or get another flash, 550/580 and attach that to camera and use the other off camera, or pocket wiards (no ettl).

lots of options, but with ettl you limit them.
