JL 12" W3 v.2 vs. Kicker Solobaric S12L5
kickers are fuckin LOUD
Out of those two choices, I would most likely pick the Kicker.
well.. i bought the Kicker.. and i'm planning on connecting that to this Phoenix Gold Octane 8.0:4 amp for now.
it's 125x4 watts.. but i'm going to bridge 2 of them at 400 watts to power the subs, and use the other 2 channels to power front speakers.
I'm going to get a single mono amp to power the sub later on.. but for now... will this setup be ok? some people say no since it will ruin my front speakers... some people say no cuz it's not enough power for the subs..
i just wanna know if this is going to cause any problems running it in this configuration for about a month or 2.
amp should work fine asuming decent front speakers
you would be better off jsut getting a bigger sub amp and running the fronts off of a smaller amp or gasp the deck
Yes that amp will work just fine. And no you wont blow your speakers unless you turn them up too loud. And the only problem with not having "enough" power for the subs is that you can't get as much output as you could with more power.
L5 Solobaric, or W3V2, I would have gone for the JL, but that is just me. Let us know how it sounds when you get it.
jl would sound better but the kicker would b louder. if ur going to get a solobaric square go with the l7 much much louder. but sound quailty wise your jl will be better. if u have $$$ get a jl w7 sub. one hell of a sub man. loud! thats what i got but i got a good deal on it they for about $600
The difference in output between the L5 and L7 would most likely be less than 3 decibels...
and the sound will depend more on the box than the driver
