Long story short, I have been out of college and working for a couple years now. (Engineering, nothing to do with art) I have such a passion for music, not really playing but music in general. I have always felt this strong about music even when I was a kid. Now that I am working I feel I am really missing out on what I really want to do. How do you guys find the balance of "work" and doing your passion for a living. As much as I want to follow my dreams, money to get by is still important. Any comments/suggestions?

Sounds typical but "new" music. . . I play guitar but not trying to make a living on that, playing guitar is more for personal enjoyment. I don't know how to explain it, I am very passionate about music and know what I am talking about when it comes to it. I can't explain it, I just know I have it.

This is really vague. Do you play in a band? Do you write songs? Do you have any musical experience?

apply as an engineer to audio based companies like Creative, or Bose, or something

it sounds like you don't want to get into music to play, but something else.. perhaps use your current profession to get more involved in it

as soon as you said engineer, and interested in music, i thought of combining the two. did you really never thinik of it? perhaps it's because i'm a computer engineer and take a buncha electrical engineering classes and right now we're doing some nyquist rate data sampling and such.

No I never thought of that, I guess because there is nothing here (Ontario) like that. I will look into some of those places. Thanks again.

There's audio engineering programs at Ryerson, I think, and there's one they do at the Metalworks studio but I don't know how much an actual engineering degree will help you with either.
