Very well made, but left me wanting. The characters were too distracting, especially Depp's Wonka.
I give it 3 out of 5 cotton candy sheep.

    Gene Wilder's Wonka > Depp's.

Depp sacres all in darker films like this one, but also, this is more true to the book [squirles over the geese]

I'd love to talk to someone who read the book so that I could figure out what movie did what more accurately.
There were most certainly very different things happening at times.

it was very good, it followed the book in SO many ways. it even used the songs from the books!! i thought it was wonderful and Depp's Wonka was JUST like the book. :big grin:

i love Gene Wilder as Wonka because he's a comic genius, but i read the book years after that movie came out and was dissappointed they had changed so much. the chocolate river actually looked like chocolate instead of orange tang that sat out in the sun for too long and the intro to the movie reminded me A LOT of Edward Scissorhands! i loved the new one and still like the old one :)

I think both Charlie films are good and I would also recommend the book.

I wasnt as into the story as i was in the first one but i thought the visual style was increadible. The use of CG, however, was disgusting and i have no idea why burton used it.

I can't wait for this to come out in Australia- I've always loved the Wilder Wonka, he was so creepy and it worked, and Depp is basically the same. I directed stage version of this once and it was so much fun- it's a favourite story of mine, and why not, the bad kids get punished!

I thought this movie was simply amazing. Thats how wonka should of been. Online thing I didnt like was that they should of kept the original oompa loompa songs.

You are all comparing it to the original and you cant really. The whole point of this movie was to make it alot diff.

But if you kept the original songs, don't you think you would have compared it to the original movie more so?

so you wanted them to keep the songs that weren't even in the book, yet this movie was suppose to be more like the book.

the point wasn't to make it different, the point was to make it like the book had intended.

    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The last film I saw in the theatres was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The movie was brilliant. I am huge fans of both Johnny Depp and Tim Burton...they were both amazing.I LOVED it! I was seriously giggling like a schoolgirl through most of it. Johnny Depp did such a fantastic job as Willie Wonka.

I saw it last Sunday. It's a very enjoyable movie; I never saw the original version so I can't compare the two. I was surrounded by many people on both ends, I think I got the best row of seat, and as I was the first to get in I sat in the middle by myself, then after others came in all sat along the seats either on my right hand side or on my left hand side until they were all taken. Yet in other rows there is hardly anybody! My partner wanted to watch another movie so he is upstairs inside another cinema room. When the movie was finished nobody wanted to move so I had to notify them that I needed to get out. I rushed to the toilet and then I went to meet with my partner. Unfortunately, he didn’t enjoy his movie.

there was very little CG used in the movie, hell they even trained the 40 squirels for just the nut scenes, stuff or maxim back in july had an article on how burton did nto want to use much CG at all

I've seen both movies, but haven't read the book. I like Depp's version better, but I like Depp better as an actor. I thought that the new version was more funny in a dark humor way, than the old one. The only thing that dissapointed me was the use of some dang CG'ed Messican as an Oompa Loompa. Other than that, everything was better than the original.
