Whats the current news?
Ford bought GM
They've been fucking up since Toyota introduced the Corolla.
Now, thirty years later, they realize they've made some terrible business
decisions and they want to let us know that they've learned their lesson.
I know I believe them.
"There was a time when 8 different brands made sense..."
gonna buy 3 cars tomorrow to help by being a patriot
that commercial gets me every time
GM sucks at running a business, managing costs and making cars
I guess it's hard to make a car under 50K if everyone in the plant is making 65 dollars an hour.
Maybe when they sold more than half of the cars in the country and the only way to have variety was when they sold lots of shit.
But really, their commercials arent bad at all. I think I'll buy one of them.
-GM settles on ricockulous union contract giving over-the-top healthcare benefits to all GM employees/families/retirees making them the nation's single largest healthcare provider.
-GM can't afford it.
+ undesirable cars
Agree to disagree. They had a pretty solid reputation with trucks/SUVS, sport coupes, and family sedans.
People still bought them.....even though there were/are better import (I say that loosely, since most Toyotas are made here) options.
That's what I meant. GM built up a reputation for poor build quality and worse reliability, and they could never really shake it off.
how does 4 brands make sense when the automakers that are successful only have two?
Mainstream + premium
NO MORE THAN THIS IS NEEDED.
Buick is huge in China, and I mean huge. They're the 3rd-biggest behind 2 Chinese companies.
As far as GMC though...seriously GM?
GM was able to afford it when they agreed to it.
Then people realized they were making tacky shitboxes that paled in comparison to Japanese cars that cost just as much.
While I agree with not axing Buick immediately, Cadillac could be just as huge in China.
GMC Sierra looks way better than the Silverado IMO
