Renato Sobral Issues Statement
Sounds like he's singing a new tune, coming all the way from "I just thought that I needed to teach him respect after he showed me so much disrespect..."
damn. i remember watching it and thinking "wtf is he doing?"
It was a pretty intense and bloody fight but i find it hard to believe that he didn't feel it. I think he was trying to prove a point and now it's biting him in the ass.
You guys think UFC will let him back in eventually or is it time for him to go to IFL?
yeah im sure he wrote/meant all of that...
I don't think he'll come back to the UFC, but if he does it sure as hell won't be any time in the near future. There are plenty of other organizations that would love to pick him up. There's no doubt he's a great fighter. He'll probably do fine and be dominate where ever he goes. It just won't be with the UFC.
Yeah that wasn't totally written by a lawyer
lol what did you expect?...
what choice does he have now? honesty got him owned.. so now he has to lie..
not surprising at all
it would be better for him to admit that he did it and that it was a mistake
I disagree. There are times when pure blatant honesty is what you need to do. This is not one of those times.
While I agree that he did it on purpose, are you really saying you dont feel Babalu dominated that fight?
testing positive for roids is something you just fess up to and move on. Admitting guilt in this could secure him never fighting in an NSAC sanctioned fight again, pretty much meaning he wont fight int he US ever again.
I was gonna say the same thing.
He also was clearly trying to punish Heath. He was avoiding submissions towards the middle of the fight when he opened up heath, he had an opportunity to go for a choke I believe and he turned out of it to continue GNP.
i thought that as well. he had quite a few opportunities to finish the fight and he just continued to punish him. It looked like he wanted to make him his highlight reel victim.
I wonder if the NSAC bans him from fighting how that will effect his abilities to sign with other promotions, especially ones that have fights here and over seas.
a black eye in mma for sure now all these boxing nut huggers are going to use this as an arguement for years to come
On one hand, we have an MMA fighter holding a choke for a couple seconds too long in a non-televised preliminary fight.
On the other, we have a title fight in which one of the competitors bites the other's ears off.
Babalu's infraction is minor in the grand scheme of things.
and we have a title fight where both competeters come up positive for steroids
And don't forget the k1 fight where it seemed like half of them did roids
And that whole aids thing. Probobly the worst thing to happen to MMA in the past year. Although it did get people talking about it
This is so insignificant compared to a lot of the shit that has happened in boxing. Can't even be a comparison. Let the boxing nut huggers argue. The sport is still booming like a motherfucker while boxing is dying every day.
Nope, never said I didn't feel he dominated the fight, because it was apparent he did. What I was referring to was him saying his post-fight comments weren't about him holding the choke but rather his aggresive performance. I agree he dominated, but he's trying to make everyone believe that his comments were about his performance and not the choke. I guess I could have worded it differently but that was all I was saying.
Babalu got hosed
