No, I script installing apps like Steam, then I go and either import the library on the secondary drives, or set it to download to a new destination.

Other apps like Office you can silently install from media, you can have a local repo on the network to pull from for things like installers for Chrome, etc. (all of which should have silent install options), etc.

About the only downside is the installers that are annoyingly manual - like Battle.net for Diablo/WoW/OW/etc.

Reloading and getting going is maybe a 1 hour affair? About the only way I'd speed that up is to go ahead and go with a custom image + scripted build that would autodeploy all the apps for me, and that's a pita.
Yeah I do the steam thing manually, I'm gonna reinstall my OS soon so maybe I'll learn to script some of the installs just as a learning exercise :hmm:

I got more in local NVMe :io:
Look, I'm not out here buying Lambos with help from OT Stock Crew.

I have 2x 14TB drives in ZFS mirror, with hourly snapshots going to a third 14TB drive as backup. When I'm able to work it, that third drive will actually be at my in-laws' house for the 1-2-3. :bigthumb:

uh tips? i'm restoring from scratch over here :o
Back up your data to local 14TB drive on an hourly basis. :dunno:

I need to upgrade my m2. Only running and 870.
Unless you're doing some very specific disk-intensive tasks, like copying/moving giant files, you probably won't see a huge difference.

The only reason I bought this was because I wanted more NVMe storage and it was heavily discounted. (Roughly the same price as PCI 3.0 drives.)

Almost zero real-world noticeable improvement thus far. The best kind of upgrade: placebo bragging rights.
