Was getting some weird lag on my second monitor when playing YouTube videos while playing BF5 on my main monitor. Installing the monitor drivers seems to have fixed it..

I do notice my second monitor doesn't feel quite as smooth as my primary. It might just be that AMD cards don't play as well as Nvidia when it comes to having two different monitors with different refresh rates. No means a deal breaker. The youtube videos play smoothly while gaming, but scrolling in browser and other apps on 2nd monitor is a bit choppy

I get that sometimes even; multiple displays imo is never really handled properly.

Might be a browser issue trying to use GPU cycles, might be refresh issue, could be all sorts of shit.

And this is on Intel/Nvidia.

Ironically, it worked fine with my GTX 1080. A lot of people suggest if I have a 2nd monitor with same resolution/refresh rate, the issue will resolve. Maybe down the road, i'll change monitors but not a priority. The stuttering is pretty subtle/minimal too

Ran out of space on a hard drive this morning and coincidentally Best Buy has their (and anyone's) best price EVER on 18tb WD hard drive.

Lucky me :coold:

Got some Thermalright ARGB fans to top off the PC and cool down that scorching 7900x. Cable managed everything to the best of my ability inside, and it's pretty clean. Temps are great too. For some reason, on the first startup, I was idling at like 62, but now it's down to 41 :coold: It's super quiet too...well, until I opened Armory Crate lol

Here's what my setup looks now. It feels finally complete , but I do have some cable management of the exterior to fix. Inside the case is fine, but I also need to think about my desk setup.

Armory Crate will override whatever fan curves you set in the BIOS.

:wtf:

Boot up laptop this morning. I am welcomed with a splash screen saying W11 upgrade is downloading. Open Win Updates, I see the button to skip upgrade. I click it. And it still downloads. Guess I'm upgrading to W11. :wtc:

Having fan control isn't silly. Not being able to choose what components to install is. Armory Crate is hot garbage.

You used to be able to install Aura separately, but not anymore.

Signal RGB sometimes works well.
Confirmed Armory Crate is not far off from MacAffee

You can also usually install the software, set it, and then uninstall it.

Problem is if you lose power (not shutdown, but like a power outage/unplug) it resets and you have to do it again.

I will say that thus far, Corsair iCUE has been pretty okay as far as RGB/Fan control goes.

I've got a mish-mash of fan control going on; my radiator fans and front intake fans are controlled by icue via sata/usb, the other 4 are controlled by my motherboard. They are mostly in synch but the truth is i run them all in quietest modes available and they don't ramp up until around 80c

i'm not planning on gaming on the new PC that i built (at least not any time soon and not until i get a video card which won't be until late this year or next year).

if i buy this, i can always re-purpose the monitor on another PC/laptop if i were go ever get into gaming and a gaming monitor was purchased.

for the same price as the dell, i can get this, https://www.microcenter.com/product...-28-4k-uhd-(3840-x-2160)-144hz-gaming-monitor

but the faster refresh isn't going to help me with basic internet browsing.

i do need a new monitor because i'm currently using a 32 inch LCD, it was the only hdmi device i had that i could move near the pc i built.

You'd be surprised how much high refresh simply on the desktop can improve your experience.

If i change mine from 165hz down to 60...the cursor feels nausea inducing.

75 is better, 100 is acceptable, 120-165 feels too same to tell the difference. This is just desktop usage btw.

they are both the same price and i can go get the asus in store, the dell isn't in store. is that a good price for the asus for what i'm getting? is 144hz respectable for gaming?
