CONSTANT Aim log on/offs, CONSTANT disconnect problem

    Here's the problem:

    Girlfriend has a wireless router, SMC2404WBR, wireless barricade.
    The network card on her laptop is a DLink.
    Her room is right across from where the router is located, so theres no obstruction (such as huge lead doors, =P).

    But for some reason, her internet disconnects CONSTANTLY.... which is apparent from her log on/offs on her AIM. A message also pops up saying that her internet disconnects. The ISP she uses is Verizon, but that shouldn't be a problem since the other computer (which is hooked up via ethernet cable) works fine.

    First I uninstalled and reinstalled an older version AIM, thinking it wuz an AIM problem, but didn't fix anything. I only have 2 ports open.... for VNC connection, so I made the IP on her laptop static.... if that matters at all.

    Any suggestions? help please? Thanks in advance.

    newest drivers for card?
    latest firmware for router?

    firmware on router up to date.... will try newest drivers now....
