Is it possible? If so, what other than the barrel and mag need to be swapped out?
In for an actual answer from someone who knows as well.
I thought it was just the top end/mag swap. But I don't know.
you thinking about building a 6" 10mm with all the fixin's too?
Swap out your underwear because you'll shit yourself after firing the 10mm.
Although the breech face is slightly different. You would also have to change the recoil spring, and i would also upgrade the spring loaded bearing and and extractor
I'm trying to score a trashed frame or something from the local PD. Would love to find one someone went wild with a soldering iron on and fucked up real good.
I may end up buying an extended slide and 6" barrel from LWD
That's what I wanted to do.
6" LWD stuff (pending that their shit isn't garbage), cut up a frame to try and replicate a CZ, and snag some Arredondo baseplates. After Yar was talking about having a 20rd 10mm, I decided I needed a run & gun hog killer.
You dont have to replace the whole slide
I've been reading that the G20 slide is heavier/beefier than the G21 slide in select areas.
No, but the added sight radius wouldn't hurt.
And I'll be honest.... I just think they look mean.
Oh... I'm thinking about replacing the G20 slide. I have no idea if the G21 will swap over.
Figured it would probably be an easier sell than a 5" G20 slide.
Still works just fine
Im thinking a 5" with comp
Plus I want to run hot loads of 10mm, not the neutered commercial stuff.
You do not need a longer slide to go with a 6" barrel. I would probably save the money and just go with a 6" barrel in the factory slide. Honestly even then I don't know if it would be worth it.
I would just shave some weight off the factory slide. That is going to lessen some of the felt recoil and muzzle flip. That heavy slide ricipocating is going to create a lot of muzzle flip and give you a pretty good wack in the web of your hand at the top of the power spike. A comp would be nice but not sure how practical it is. You would have to load your ammo differently to take advantage of it. The LDW comp is pure garbage btw. I would not bother with a comp, or a dot.
My ideal G20 would be a kkm barrel, lighten the slide, reshape the grip, good trigger, and good iron sights. Then 20+1 of double tap ammo. If I did lots of hunting that would a pretty good sidearm. Also a good pig gun though for pig I think I would want a rifle or a shotgun w/ slug.
I'm thinking I much rather have a G21 w/ comp and dot as a stake and pin gun. They have these matches where they time how fast you can shoot bowling pins off tables. It's lots of fun and a 45 is the way to go. There is a money match or skins match that I could clean up on with such a gun. Sometimes at a match there will be a stake side match where you race to cut a 4x4 in half. Again a g21 open gun would be the best chain saw w/ 20+1 capacity and wad cutters. If I backed it up I could pay for the gun with match winnings in under 2 years.
The LWD comes with the G34/5 lightening cuts, though I have no idea about how "light" it is. What's the story with the LWD slides, are they worth a shit?
Does Glock make a factory 6" tube? I was thinking that a 10mm could probably gain a decent amount in velocity from the longer barrel, and a slower burning powder. I have not seen any numbers or anything about that though. I would probably stoke it with Moly'd X's to eek all the speed I could.
Well the LDW slides work which is more than I can say for the caspians. The fit is looser than a factory slide. The steel is untreated other than a rough glass bead. Have seen a good amount of galling in the slide rail area. I personally would not run a LDW slide or barrel on any of my personal glocks. I would rather run factory barrels and slides.
While we are producing a slide soon (hoping to have working prototype but shot show. We have no plans at this time to do a large 45 or 10mm. Just not enough of a market for it.
So just drop in a Glock 6" 10mm barrel in a G21 slide?
yeah if you had your heart set on a 6". Not sure how much more FPS it would give you. Guessing maybe 50 fps?
